Plan Limits & Resource Policy
Storage, automation, API, and resource limits by plan tier.

Overview
LegalsOne operates on a flat monthly subscription per firm — not per user. Each subscription tier includes defined resource limits for storage, automation, API access, and other platform resources. This page documents those limits and what happens if they are reached.

Storage Limits

Storage is measured as compressed size of all active documents, attachments, records, and database content associated with your firm's environment. Nightly encrypted backups are maintained separately and do not count against your storage limit.
User Seats
LegalsOne does not charge per user and does not enforce hard per-user seat limits within a firm subscription. All staff at a subscribing law firm may use the platform under the firm's account. However, each plan is designed for firms of a particular size range:
- Starter: Designed for firms of 1–5 staff
- Professional: Designed for firms of 6–15 staff
- Enterprise: Designed for firms of 16–25+ staff
If your firm's actual size significantly exceeds the designed range for your tier, LegalsOne may request a tier upgrade.
Automation Limits

An "automation run" is a single execution of a defined workflow trigger (e.g., a deadline reminder sent, a status change triggered, a document generated). Automation runs reset at midnight Central Time daily.
API Rate Limits

API rate limits apply to programmatic access via LegalsOne's API (where available). These limits do not apply to normal in-browser platform usage.
Matter & Record Limits
There are no hard limits on the number of matters, contacts, documents, or records that may be created within the platform, subject to storage limits. LegalsOne may implement soft limits at extreme volumes and will provide advance notice before any enforcement action.
Exceeding Limits
If your firm consistently exceeds the limits for your plan tier:
- Warning: LegalsOne will contact the account administrator by email to discuss usage.
- Upgrade request: LegalsOne will recommend upgrading to the appropriate plan tier.
- Throttling: If usage is not addressed, LegalsOne may temporarily throttle automation or API access to protect platform stability for all tenants.
- Suspension: In extreme cases or where throttling is insufficient, LegalsOne may suspend affected features pending a resolution.
LegalsOne does not automatically charge overage fees without prior agreement. Overage charges require written agreement with your account manager.
